In Time Enough For Love, Heinlein spins the tale of Lazarus Long, a man born in 1912 who is still very much alive 2000+ years later. This book is mostly concerned with the life history of this man, who has experienced a little bit of everything over the course of his long life.

Several tales are told throughout the book that can teach you the meaning and evolution of love in each person’s life.

Some of the tales do touch on subjects that many people consider taboo. If you are conservative in thought and belief, and closed minded about taboos, then DO NOT READ THIS BOOK. If on the other hand you consider yourself to be open minded, give it a read - you may find that it will become a favorite.

Included in two sections of the book are intermissions (light reading.) If you are unsure as to whether you would enjoy the book, then I suggest opening up to one of the intermissions and reading the quotes contained therein. The following is a couple of quotes from the second intermission:

A committee is a life form with six or more legs and no brain.

Anything free is worth what you paid for it.

If you find that these aphorisms are to your liking, I would encourage you to look through the other quotes in the intermissions before deciding to read the whole book. I reserve this book as a favorite of mine, but I have known other people, who have despised it.

This book will do it all, it will make you laugh, and it will make you cry, and then it may make you wish to join the Long family. If you don’t wish to jump into Heinlein all in one motion, ask Linda for a list of gentler novels with which to begin.
