I’ve been ignoring this site for a while. Time to get to the site updated and the workflow perfected so I can blog/journal and make the site useful again.

I am moving the domains and the site hosting off of linode to CloudFlare. The migration was actually pretty easy since I already post everything to GitHub anyway.

The site has gone through many hosting options and versions over the years. I was looking on archive.org earlier and the original site I started, ClubReading.com, was back in 1999. At least that’s the earliest record of the domain registration. I started the site originally because php was new and I wanted to learn the language, and since I and some friends enjoy reading, I figured I would build us a site to keep track of reading and reviews. Keep in mind this was before goodreads.

I had moved the site to Hugo recently as the static site generator. I say recently, it was a few years ago now, but the templating was bugging me, so I moved it back to jekyll. Well, this version is back on Hugo and using the PaperMod template. Very basic and simple. The few things I want are met by the platform and template. The site is:

  • Responsive
  • Searchable
  • Quick
  • Backed by markdown files.

I loved the old ClubReading.com site, and have kept a number of the old reviews. I haven’t fully posted all of the old reviews, and would like to some day. I’m thinking about using Claud.code or Gemini to help come up with dates for the old reviews. That will be a long term project. Right now I want to get all the existing posts moved over and catch up on some posts about the weaving projects I’ve built.

There is also a weaving project app I spent some time on last fall and will finish it at some point.

Enjoy!
